All About Apples

Today we started the day with morning circle time led by Ashrith and health snacks. I must say that everyone is doing a great job at eating a  health snack in the morning.
In Language Arts we met our new animal friend: Alexander Alligator. We sang our phonics song and completed a page of Writing with Phonics workbook where students practiced writing upper case and lower case a. They also completed an activity where they had to look at the picture and circle the ones they could hear the short a sound.
In Math we practiced counting and number recognition from 1-10. Students counted apples and then circled the correct number.
In our UOI we learned an apple poem, coloured an apple tree and finger painted apples.
For centers we had a variety of activities involving fine motor skills and patterning.

This week we will be doing a lot of apple activities. On Wednesday we will be making apple pie bites. Please, if your child had any diet restrictions, let me know. We will be using the following ingredients:
1 can Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
1 granny smith apple
1 cup water
1 teaspoon lemon juice
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
