Today we started the day with circle time and snacks.
In the morning we had Language/Arts. Students worked on the daily five - work on words and also made a winter scenery using patterns. They placed the houses and then painted the snow (sand + paint). We reviewed and talked about how we see patterns everywhere, especially in nature:).
In the afternoon we had show and tell, finished our art and participated in centers.
After second recess we had story time, pack up and Gym class.

Snowy Thursday!
Today we began the day with morning circle time and healthy snacks.
In language we started the day with our daily five - read to someone. Next, students completed an activity where they cut pictures that begin with P or S and then paste in the correct column.
Then we had our daily five - work on words, students practiced writing words that end with AN such as van, pan, can and fan.
After lunch and outdoor recess we had story time, songs and our UOI/Math. Students cut and paste pictures into 3 categories: air, land and sea.
Next, we had centers.
After second lunch and outdoor recess we had story time, pack up and gym in the class.

Sunny Wednesday!
What a great sunny day!
Today we began the day with snacks and morning circle time. Honor was the special helper!
In language we started with our daily five - read to self. Students had a variety of grade level books to choose from.
Next, we spent some time going through the work we have already completed for the month of January and making corrections if needed. Students who didn't need to make any corrections in their work, spent the time to work on their Writing with Phonics book. In their workbook, students have been working on correct letter/word formation and also writing in the lines.
After lunch and outdoor recess we had our daily five - listen to reading and our Math/UOI time. In our Math/UOI time we worked on transportation patterns.
Next we had our daily five - read to someone with the gr. 3s.
After second lunch and outdoor recess we had centers and packed up.
Today students attended French and Gym classes.

Brain breaks are so important for adults and children!
Movement gets the blood flowing, following the directions gets the brain strategizing and singing and dancing adds an element of fun most children will love!

Happy Tuesday!
Today we began the day with morning circle time and healthy snacks. Makaela was the special helper!
In our daily five - work on words we looked the words that end with ag. Students cut and paste the letters n order to build ag words, such as wag, rag, tag and bag.
For students who finished earlier, they worked on their Writing with Phonics book.
After first lunch and indoor recess we had our daily five - listen to reading.
Next, we worked on numeracy. Students counted the snowflakes and matched the correct number.
In our UOI we listened to some songs related to our new unit: Transportation. Then students helped me to sort out pictures of transportation into: land, air and sea. We also looked into types of transportation in other parts of the world.
