Happy Monday!

Today we had a great day!
We began the day with our calendar routine led by Maya and healthy snacks.
In Language Arts we met our new animal friend of the week: Nicky Narwhal. Then we sang our phonics song and completed a page of our ABeka workbook. Students practiced writing the blend: ne and the word net.
Next, we had reading groups and journal writing.

In Math we practiced numeracy by using math manipulatives to show the correct amount.
In our UOI we started a new unit.
Our transdiciplinary theme is: How We Express Ourselves
The central idea: Arts elements can be used to convey messages and influence our emotions.
We will be inquiring into:
How emotions are influenced when listening to music
Colours can reflect the way people feel
Stories can be told through movement

Throughout this unit we will be doing a lot of art activities. Today we made a background for a self portrait. Students will draw their self portrait tomorrow.
Have a great evening!
