Happy Thursday!

Today we had a fun day!!!

We began the day with our morning exercise, circle time and snacks.

In Language we wrote in the  journals and worked on blends and digraphs. A consonant blend is when two or more consonants are blended together, but each sound may be heard in the blend. Here are the common blends we are learning: bl, br, cl, cr, dr, fr, tr, fl, gl, gr, pl, pr, sl, sm, sp and st.

A digraph is when two consonants stand together to represent a single sound.

Here are some common digraphs we have been working on: sh, ch, th, and wh.

In Math we worked and reviewed graphs. Students graphed different farm animals.

In our UOI on animals we read a book titled: "If I Were an Animal" by Woody. Next, students drew a picture of the animals they wish they could be.

Today we watched the gr. 10s participating in an obstacle course as part of the gr. 6s exhibition project.

Today students attended Gym and French classes.

Warm Wednesday!

Today we had a fun and busy day!
We started the day with morning circle time and snacks.
In Language Arts we practiced reading and writing CVC (consonant/vowel/consonant) words as a preparation for the Spelling Bee competition taking place on June 1st.
Next we had daily five - read to someone.

In Math we reviewed coins and completed a couple of pages involving numeracy.
Today we also had reading buddies and made a rainbow using clay.

All art pieces will be displayed on the Arts Night. :)

Sunny Tuesday!

Today we began the day with morning circle time and snacks.
In the morning we had fun completing several activities involving patterning, graphing, journal writing and sorting.

 In the afternoon we finished our bugs from yesterday and also had story time.

 

Today students participated in Gym and French classes.

We had a great day today!
We began the day with morning circle time and healthy snacks.
In Language we worked on et ending sound words: pet, jet, met, get, net, let, vet, set and wet.
Students then completed a couple of pages where they had to look at the picture, read the beginning blend sound and circle the correct blend.
Students also wrote in the journals.
In Math we worked with numeracy, students practiced counting and writing numbers 11-20.
In our UOI we made finger print bugs using paint. Tomorrow we will finish.
Today students attended Drama and Gym classes.

Cold Thursday!

Well, I guess winter is back! :(
Today we had a fun day!
In the morning we had snacks and circle time. In Language Arts we wrote in the journals and also practiced letter formation in our book Writing with Phonics.
After lunch we wrote in the agendas and also completed a measurement activity. Students had large, medium and small pictures of turtles. They were instructed to cut and paste the turtles in the correct category.
Next, we had centers and story time.
Today students attended Drama, French and Gym classes.

Happy Wednesday!

Today we began the day with snacks and circle time.
In the morning we watched a 10 min. video about Earth Day. Then we read a book about ways we can help the Earth. Students colored an Earth Day booklet. Then we they wrote in the agendas.
In the afternoon we had reading buddies, we also finished our caterpillar craft and practiced letter formation in our book Writing with Phonics.
To finish off the day we read a story and had our Fundraiser assembly in the gym.

Happy Tuesday!

Today we began the day with morning circle time and healthy snacks.
Look at the JKs eating their healthy snacks!

In the morning we had arts. Students will making a caterpillars, from the story book: "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". Today we painted and tomorrow we will put together.

 

Next, students wrote in the agendas: Wear green, blue or brown tomorrow. Then we had our daily five - read to someone.
After lunch we listened to the story: The Diary of a Worm. Then students worked on coins. They cut and paste coins into the correct category.

SJA will be having litterless lunch. Please, send in your child's lunch and snacks in containers and they will receive house points. Also, wear green, blue or brown.
